Rare Breed Poultry:
Jubilee Orpington Chickens
Meet the Flock
Our botique farm isn't a commercial hatchery. Instead, we pride ourselves on breeding Jubilee Orpington chickens and other rare poultry birds with a focus on quality and beauty. You see, I absolutely adore what I do and enjoy introducing others to these wonderful birds. Our small hatches ensure the breed's quality and improve hatch rate and bird coloring. Currently offering fertilized hatching eggs available for pick up on the farm or shipped directly to you. Jubilee Orpingtons are rare, large, and exceptionally docile chickens. They feature stunning mahogany, black and white speckled feathers and are known for their calm, friendly, and cold hardy nature. Fun fact: The Jubilee Orpington was created to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria.
Origins and Appearance of the Jubilee Orpington
This bird was created to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria. It is not known what breeds were used to create it but it is believed to be a descendant of the Speckled Sussex. The complex feather pattern can take up to 18 months to be fully finished.
Friendly Temperament and Trainability
Calm and friendly, Jubilee Orpington chickens are rarely aggressive toward people. They're easily trained to interact with humans, making them a fantastic choice for families with children. Their docile nature also makes them a perfect addition to any backyard flock.
Egg-Laying Abilities
Orpingtons lay large cream to light brown colored eggs. You can expect about 150 eggs per year from your laying hens.
Caring for Orpington Chickens
Oprington chickens are relatively low-maintenance and can adapt well to various climates. They need a cozy coop for shelter and a fenced-in area for protection.
So, if you're looking for a stunning, easy to care for, and low-maintenance bird to add to your backyard flock, the Jubilee Orpington chicken may be the perfect choice. And here at Black Horse Farm, we're committed to providing you with the finest quality chicks as well as hatching eggs.
