December on the Farm: Health Checks and Happy News 🐑✨
December is always a big month here on the farm. It’s the time we welcome our wonderful veterinarian, Dr. Dana Westerman, for the annual round of exams, vaccinations, dentals, and all the routine care that keeps our animals thriving. With the wide variety and sheer number of critters we care for, this day is no small undertaking—it’s a marathon of check-ups, but one we make sure to complete every year.
Dr. Dana worked her way through the barnyard with her usual skill and kindness, making sure every animal was thoroughly examined. By the end of the day, we were thrilled to report that everyone received a clean bill of health. Teeth are good for another year, vaccinations are up to date, and the farm is set for a healthy season ahead.
But the highlight of the day brought extra joy: our beloved Valais Blacknose Sheep, Cricket and Cover, are both pregnant! 🐑💖 Thanks to Casper, our hardworking ram, both girls were ultrasounded and confirmed bred, with lambs expected to arrive in early spring. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome these new additions to the flock and watch our farm family grow.
It’s days like these—long, busy, but full of good news—that remind us why we love this life. Healthy animals, dedicated care, and the promise of new beginnings make December a truly special time on the farm.
